A Quirky Cat, a link to freebies and Belated Birthday Wishes Les!

At Last, here I am with my third DT card for the Quirky Crafts Challenge. Oriental is the theme. So come and join in!
I started off with a cream pearl card 5x7 300gsm by docrafts Papermania.  I've used, along with one of their sentiments, 'Happy Birthday', Mewshu Pork cat from Squigglefly
The Pussy cat's been 3D-ed, but only a little bit this time. One of him has no tail and the last layer is just his bowl. I've printed him over some Chinese dragon paper I had, onto some smooth heavy weight card that isn't supposed to bleed when using Promarkers, but his legs went a bit South...or maybe I mean North! Well, I guess if you use enough Promarker ink it's gonna bleed no matter what. Never mind! He's 'supposed' to look like that!
The backing papers I found later they're called Cherry Blossom. I just had to use them. They were freebies from Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine ages back and have an Oriental feature of flowers and fans. You can still find them HERE! Always worth a visit for freebie papers!  My tip is to print them on the best printer paper you have at least 120 to160 gsm,  (not on 80 to 90 copy paper, it's a waste of ink!!!))
Anyway, I must have printed them out when I first downloaded them (When my old printer was working and black printed out black, even with cheaper ink!)  as they were printed on the heavier smoother paper I can no longer buy and were fabulous. (I had to stroke them for ages before I could cut into them!)
I've added peel-offs; they look like brads don't they!?! These all came from  Create & Craft years ago too! I had loads, about 50 packets all with an Oriental theme. (So glad I found them!) These ones you can sew into, but I didn't have time for that.
At the moment I've left the inside blank but covered with the matching papers, will fill it in when I send it off to Les, (John's step Dad) who's birthday card it is.  He always said my old cat, Gizmo, looked Chinese, so I knew this card was meant for him! And in the past, he's popped in to feed Mr Jinx when we've been away...I hope it wasn't Chow Mein!  Happy Belated Birthday Les! That's it for now, thank you for stopping by!!

An Oriental Quirky Challenge Reminder.

I'm back to remind you all about Quirky Crafts Latest Challenge organised by Monica. She would love to see some Oriental Creations! My late last weeks make was a lovely image from East Wind. I added it to the post as my Quirky Crafts  DT card but, things weren't as I hoped they would be. I'd run out of all my ice grey Promarkers, so couldn't colour the extra bits and do a bit of decoupage 3D-ing, and I couldn't find some things I wanted to add to the card but anyway!! Here it is, finshed!
I'm not sure it's worth the wait! I think the hair is a lot better with the blend of Ice Greys. I've 3D-ed it using thicker card that's not ment to 'bleed'. There's about four layers, five if you count the book, which I also changed the colour of,  then used the same colour for the fans.
Hunted for ages to find those fans! (I must tidy my craft room!) added that little tag and put a fan inside the card too. Not a lot of change but I think it makes a lot of difference.
There's still a week left to come and join in over on Quirky Crafts. I'll be adding another card later. It's a cat! Thank you for stopping by!!

A Real Quirky Oriental Challenge

Quirky Challenge time again, and again, time is not on my side!! Sorry! I'm late! This Challenge has been sponsored by loads of fabulous people so come over to Quirky Crafts and join in and win some lovely prizes from...THAT CRAFT PLACE , SQUIGGLEFLY and THE EAST WIND It's Monica's turn to set the theme and she has chosen...
'The Quirky Silk Road'(See Video for inspiration!) Monica wants you to bring projects full of the beauty, colours, textures and Sounds of The Orient.
Any project is allowed, but Oriental in heme. Just show us the treasures and wisdom of Orient cultures: China, Japan, India, Korea, etc...

Here's my card, love all that hair!! But she's not really finished yet! (I told you I was late!) I printed her out ready to 3D but all my 'Ice Grey' Promarkers have run out, well, they didn't actually run out (Promarkers with legs suddenly came into my mind then...) but anyway, you know what I mean! I wanted Lucy Loo Bookaholic from Unky's EAST WIND  to have black hair, which I'm rubbish at, never know what colours to blend, black looks so dark on it's own, so a quick trundle to You Tube and I found our own blogging friend Kimbley and you definitely need the ice greys!
Here's my card so far...I've used the Unky image called Lucy Loo Bookaholic. I only just had enough of the wrong colour grey to do this one. (you won't see her when I 3D her later) She has been printed over the background paper, (as a PNG) so that saves a bit of colouring. The only thing that has been 3D-ed at this time, is the book.
The card is 6x6 with a tiny slice cut off the front. (I did that because the paper was a little short.) The papers I've used came as a freebie download from CardMaking and PaperCraft. Always worth a visit for their freebie papers! On the inside I covered up the shortness again by just leaving the black layer showing and covering it with some Oriental peel-offs.
The Freebie font is called HongKong.  I'm not sure what the puched out sign means, perhaps you do! I wasn't sure which way up it should go either. I think it might mean Blessings or Happiness. When the card is closed you can see the 'Just For You' sentiment. I'll take another pic later. That's it for now... I'll add more soon...

Spyder's Other Corner Sponsors: Christmas With C.R.A.F.T!

Oh my goodyness, doesn't Christmas come around fast these days!?! There I was, making sandcastles and now it's time to get out those holly reefs and baubles again and make something Christmasy because Spyder's Other Corner is Sponsoring C.R.A.F.T!
I'm a bit late, very late actually so I've back dated this! Mainly because I wasn't here, been very busy walked loads of dogs and  lost my glasses somewhere from gettng out of the car and getting back in an hour later, so can't see the blinking thing!!
Anyway, the CRAFT challenge is nice and easy so go and add your Christmas creations to the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge Blog to be in with a chance of winning some prizes. I'm just one of many sponsors, Dragonsmoore, Spyder's Other Corner will be sending someone FIVE DIGI's of their choice from the store.
The C.R.A.F.T. Design team have chose: Five Happy Snowmen and Santa Hedgie. Can't wait to 'see' them!
Here's a card I made for this challenge using...Hedgie With His Christmas Poinsettia. He's also holding a Holly Reef with berries to hang on his door. I've decoupaged the hedgie, he got a little bent, so don't look too closely! There's about five layers, all with different bits cut off. I've also used green card and red miri card to layer even more. I've added a reef charm and used a Promarker to colour the little ribbon red.
The stars and beads were cut from a red ribbon, the red dotted ribbon is from my stash. The little robin brad is from a Forever Friends set, 'Cosy Christmas', I've also added mock stitching and loads of Stickles glitter. The little holly leaf on his hat is a Woodware punch and the font I used is a freebie on most sites, it's called CurlyShirley.
Inside I used   Papermania 'Home For Christmas' papers. At the moment I've left the insid blank. Behind the hedgie is one of my always freebies found HERE  That's it! Click over to C.R.A.F.T. and join in! Simples!!
Because I've lost my glasses, there's no freebie yet, so I hope you grabbed the one day freebie... hard Cheddar if you didn't! (I'm soooo mean) this weeks freebie is half done, the other half, without my glasses looks very troubled!! I suddenly realise how much I use them. Anyway, I have a new pair coming, rather dearer than I expected and I have to wait for two weeks... so typing, reading and card making isn't easy! Hoping to add this to a few...

A Quick Quirky Reminder. Christmas In July:Use Die-cut and or Punches

Reminder Time! I know it's hot, and thinking of Christmas is  a bit hard when there's no biting wind, rain or snow, but there's still a week left in this Christmas In July- Use your Die-cuts and/or Punches challenge, so there's still time for all that to happen!
Of course if you're lucky enough to live in hot places when it is Christmas, you must be used to it by now so, get crafting and come and join in over on Quirky Crafts..
Stitchy Bear is Sponsoring the challenge, so there's prizes to be had!!
Here's my card...I was going to show you the other bunny, but he hopped off before I could take a picture and I haven't seen him in days! (I'm guessing he's buried under a load of toppled over crafty goods somewhere...anyway.
This is Four Calling Birds, by Delicious Doodles, from Stitchy Bears Digi store. It did start off on a larger card, but it was not my normal thickness and was sooo thin it kept falling over, (bit like me when.... oh never mind) so that was snipped off and re-fixed to a thicker smaller card. The strip of red dotty paper was from a Forever friends Christmas set and was originally higher up the card, but it doesn't look too bad where  it ended up!
Outside I've used Punches. Corner Punch, Holly and Berry Punch and the Leaf punch, which also embosses. I've coloured using both the computer and Promarkers and covered it all with Stickles Glitter Glue. The holly paper you can just see behind was a freebie from a crafting mag. I've added a peel off Happy Christnas in silver to go with the silver miri card I used to layer the birds.
Inside I used another punch on the money pocket side and a Spellbinders die-cut on the other side. Papers are all bits from my stash. That's it!! Pop over to Quirky Crafts and Join in!!

Spyder's (Other) Corner, Sponsors [Pin]spirational!

Here we go at Spyder's Other Corner, with another challenge sponsoring Pinspirational!  Deanne of A Little Bit o' Paper, a member of their fabulous Design Team has made a lovely creation featuring my  Butterfly Bear.  I''ve added him to the post over on Spyder's Other Corner. One of the winners will be able to choose any 5 digi's from my store!
Here's the card I made for the challenge also using Butterfly Bear.
It's a picture inspiration Challenge, all blues, smidgens of greens and a lovely butterfly too. I've used mostly blues in making this card.

The first paper I fixed to the card, you can't really see. It's a freebie, it' from a set of scrap booking papers called 'A Little Spring In Your Step' by Summer Driggs. I think it was green dot paper, but because I'd run out of ink, it came out blue! It was printed onto some fab thick silky paper, which I can't get anymore! (boo!) So I just had to use it! (Aw, shame you can't see it though!)
I've also used PinkPetticoat 'Clouds' paper on the card (printed on brochure paper, which is like decoupage paper, sort of shinny) as well as a background behind the bear. (The clouds are a little bit smaller) I've coloured the lilac butterfly ribbon with a blue Promarker to make it a little bit bluer. I've also added glitter, gems, a tiny butterfly charm, a sticker sentiment and the flowers, which I've made using paper sprayed with Comic Shimmer in a sparkly blue.
I've coloured the Butterfly Bear with two different shades of blue Promarker and blended the colours together. He's also been 3D-ed (so there's a leg and an arm missing on the top bear) It's just enough to make him pop out and give him a little bit of a shadow. I've also popped the butterfly and added gems and glitter to the body and wings, but his Antonie were snipped off (ouch!)
I think the butterfly paper you can see came free with a magazine, might be LOTV, but I'm not sure.

Inside I've used some tiny butterfly papers also a freebie 6x6 paper pack from Paper Craft Inspirations last month called Lily Rose. (It came with matching Lily Rose stamps too, which I haven't used yet!)
The font on the inside is a freebie on most sites, it's called AdineKirnberg-S (google the name, as I've been told not to link fonts any more to a certain site!)
That's it I think! All you have to do now is pop over to [Pin]spirational and join in, don't forget the winner will have a choice of five digis of their choice from Dragaonsmoore, Spyder's Other Corner! Hoping to add this to a few

I'm Quirky Well die-ing for Christmas In July!

So.... here it is!! Christmas in July, plus use die cuts and or punches. Couldn't be easier! That's my challenge, which has started over on Quirky Crafts Challenge blog. I've spent all week, trying to find my Big Shot, I mean...how can one lose a Big Shot...the times I've caught my ankle on the handle if it's on the floor!! I found it, minus all it's bits so then begun hunting for dies cuts I'd already cut out....  did find a few, but not cut out of Christmas paper, so I went ahead and printed out this cute little rabbit from Delicious Doodles a few times.
I'd chosen 'Christmas Collection Paper Stack' by Kate Knight which was a freebie from Quick Cards Made easy magazine some time ago. They're not the normal colours for Christmas, but as the theme is Christmas in July, well...bright happy sparkly papers are just the ticket I think!
Once I'd printed out the bunny in his stocking I had the idea of printing him on some of the papers too. So, using a dab of photo glue, (so I could peel it off easiler afterwards) I stuck them on a sheet of paper and printed bunny all over again, so most of him and his stocking were now coloured by the backing papers.
I cut these out and fixed them over the white bunnies (I had loads over so I've made another card, I'll show you that later in the week) I coloured the bunny with Promarkers and then, (there's always more) decided to 3D him. I was going to add a third layer with just the bunny's head (no ears or paws) But I couldn't cut him! He's too cute, and if I did, I wouldn't have been able to make another card....any way it still makes a nice 'shadow' under his chin and makes him look more life-like.
Once all that was done he was fixed onto a die cut by 'Darice Embossing'.
Down one side  of the card I fixed some sparkly ric-rac ribbon , but then decided to cover that with the pink web ribbon. I then added silver miri board snowflakes punched out with a Woodware punch and added gems to their centres, then added loads of glitter, a stocking charm, a holly sticker and a Merry Christmas peel off...which of course are die cuts too.
Inside I thought I'd add another bunny using all the 'bits' I had left over from printing on the backing ppers. The Merry Christmas was stamped onto a Spellbinder diecut. , using Really Raspberry ink.
That's it! Back to walking the dogs, we've had four this weekend, with some staying over, great doggy fun! Thank you for stopping by! oh, yes I forgot to say, I found my Big Shot! I hope to add this to a few...
